What does the Parents' Club do?

Room parents: Room parents assist the teachers or staff in whatever way the teacher needs help. This might include helping with school or class programs, field trips and special events such as Christmas parties and other fun activities. Room parents are also responsible for lining up the summer cleaning and making sure the cleaning that your class is supposed to do gets done.

Apple Peeling: Apples are peeled and put in buckets in the freezer. Our cooks use the apples to make desserts or other things for our children. There have been times when SWCH has extra and pass them on to our school so we don't have to peel. Watch for announcements in the newsletter if help is needed.

Cookie Dough Sale: This is a great fundraiser and a very easy one! Each family is asked to sale the cookie dough and other items that are listed. The cookie dough is delivered to school and already divided into orders. Families are then supposed to deliver the orders they sold. This usually takes place in September of the new school year.

Donation Sale Supper: Parents' Club is in charge of the supper before the donation sale in the spring. There is 1 chair and 1 co-chair in charge of the supper. The co-chair is the chair the following year. We also need volunteers to help with the supper that evening. If you sign up for a shift you are required to be there. There are plenty of notes for those in charge to let you know when to order, what to order and who to order from. The day of the sale there is setup to do and finishing details.

Dutch Festival: The Dutch Festival is a huge income for our school! It is for 2 days in July and every family is asked to help in some way during this time. This usually involves one 2 hour shift in our food booth. We also have 2 chairs and 2 co-chairs. The co-chairs are the 6th grade parents and then they will chair the following year. If you have ever chaired the Dutch Festival you will not be expected to do it again. We all must take our turns! There are plenty of notes from the years before that explains exactly what needs to be done and when to do it. The Parent's Club Board is now in charge of lining up the volunteers and making follow up calls to remind volunteers. If you are signed up for a shift please make sure you are there or someone to replace you is there. The chairs go to a lot of work to make this a success for our school, please respect them by showing up.
